Cups Stolen on First Day

The highly popular cafe is based at the Bungalow

Victory Cafe is debating whether to put its new enamel mugs to use after four walked out the door on their first day.

For anyone who doesn’t know, the highly popular cafe is based at the Bungalow.

Bought to bring a bit of change to its usual cups, the cafe had special enamel cups made embossed with its logo, however, they proved too tempting for some visitors.

It said: ‘I have so much trust that I never, ever considered anyone would steal these. We bought them to replace our plain cups for hot chocolate, mountain tea and, from half term, for a pint of chips with our sandwiches. One of my besties, Claudia, said ‘people will steal these’.

‘Dave, one of our team members said ‘people will steal these’. So I said, ‘ok, let’s put a few out and we’ll count them in a couple of weeks or so. So, Day 1. 12 cups sent out, 8 cups came back.

‘It’s SO hard to keep afloat in hospitality. All we want to do is give people a lovely experience and some folk go and spoil it.’

Victory Cafe is asking whether it should use the cups, with some guests suggesting they charge a deposit for the mugs or sell them and offer discounts for people who bring them each time they visit.
