Duo Behind Island’s First Medicinal Cannabis Café Answer Your Questions

After making waves earlier this week with news of the Isle of Man’s first-ever medicinal cannabis café opening in Ramsey, the duo behind The Green Lounge CSC have followed up with answers to some of the most common questions people have been asking.

Located at 66 Parliament Street, the former Rum Baba Baba site, The Green Lounge is set to become the island’s first Cannabis Wellness Lounge, offering a space focused on ‘education, support, and advocacy for medicinal cannabis patients’.

Described as ‘a community resource promoting safe, informed access’ for those using cannabis for health reasons, the café will combine a creative social space with wellbeing events, art, and educational sessions, all with a strong emphasis on community.

But since announcing their plans, the founders have been flooded with questions, everything from whether people can smoke inside, to who can actually go in.

They’ve now shared a Q&A to clear things up.

When asked if people will be allowed to smoke joints in the lounge, they said: ‘No. Smoking won’t be permitted anywhere in the lounge.

‘The Green Lounge will be a medical vaporisation environment, meaning only cannabis vaporizers can be used on site.

‘This keeps the air clean, safe and accessible for everyone while supporting responsible medical use.’

So, no smoking, but vaping for verified medical users will be allowed.

As for who can visit, the team confirmed: ‘Anyone over 18 is welcome.

‘However, only verified Consumption Pass holders will be allowed to consume their medical cannabis on site.

‘You’ll still be able to enjoy the café, art and events even if you don’t hold a pass.’

And what’s the point of a place like The Green Lounge?

‘There’s growing science around the benefits of mindful, social consumption, particularly for people managing pain, anxiety or isolation.

‘Sharing space and experience can help reduce stigma, improve wellbeing, and create real community. That’s what The Green Lounge is about.’

The café is due to open later this year, with updates expected soon via its website and social media channels.
