FSA Issues Bogus Companies Warnings
In each case, there are perfectly legit and licensed companies, with both those names, operating on the island.
The Financial Services Authority is warning islanders to be sure that the companies they are dealing with are genuine and licensed financial service providers.
Two separate warnings have been issued in the past few days over scammers claiming to be a genuine Manx licensed business.
The suspected bogus entities have been operating as ‘Orion Prime Limited’ and ‘Rushen Finance Company Limited’.
However, in each case, there are perfectly legit and licensed companies, with both those names, operating on the island and neither have any links to the bogus companies.
In each case, the FSA said: ‘The Authority has failed to establish any association between the entity and any genuine Isle of Man companies or businesses.
‘Under the circumstances, the Authority is concerned that any person who has accessed the website may potentially become the victim of fraud or it may be an attempt at gaining personal data from the browser in order to steal their identity.’
