Outlier’s Manx rum has been made it into the shortlist for The Whisky Exchange Rum of the Year.

Director Rick Dacey said: ‘We’re absolutely made up to have made this list alongside some absolute giants in the rum world. Really proud to have put Manx rum on the map!’
The punchy 64% rum and its 41% Hoolie is made from scratch here in the Isle of Man, shipped in molasses, with water used from the farm to ferment then double distil using Outlier’s wood-fired still.
The team then age some of that rum in new American oak and Islay whisky casks for 18 months+ as part of the blend.
The company said: ‘We’re incredibly proud of our Hurricane overproof Manx rum – which weighs in at a punchy 64% – but for it to get lined up against the likes of Hampden Park (the eventual champ), Chairman’s, Eminente, Mount Gay and Neisson is definitely up there with our highest aspirations. These are some seriously good rums.’
You can also pick up a bottle in person at The Wine Cellar, Woodbourne Deli, at the Ronaldsway Airport or on The Steam Packet. There’s also a bunch of fine pubs and bars across the Island serving Hoolie and Hurricane. Give it a try with some ginger.
