Manx Meat Recalled

Isle of Man Meats says a breakdown with a packaging machine is behind a product recall.

Any product with batch number 19590 can be taken back to where you bought it for a full refund.

The taxpayer owned company said that the issue arose between Christmas and early January and that the machine breakdown ’caused some delays in production whilst waiting for specialist engineers to arrive on Island to repair the equipment’.

It added: ‘As a result of this situation a decision was made to dispose of some beef from stock and recall from customers a small amount of beef product. This is a precautionary measure, as we feel these items falloutside our high quality and food hygiene standards. Whilst the risk is extremely minimal when cooked and handled correctly, we prioritise the quality of our product and the needs of our consumers.

‘As such we would ask people to check their labels and return any product with batch number 19590 to the point of purchase for a full refund.’

Meat Issues

It has been reported by Manx.news that producers have been told of an eight week wait for animals to go to the abattoir.

It has also reported that several thousands worth of Manx meat is due to be destroyed.

The company has yet confirmed how much beef it has had to dispose of or comment on claims of prolonged waits.
