McAleers to leave the Pigeon after 10 years
Two of Douglas’ most recognisable publicans are to leave the business that they have been running together for more than a decade.
Father and son duo Robert McAleer Senior and Junior opened the Thirsty Pigeon in 2014, but posted on Facebook earlier today that they will be leaving the Victoria Street freehouse.
They said: ‘It is with mixed emotions we announce that after 10 years, our time at The Thirty Pigeon has come to an end.
‘The last 10 years at The Thirsty Pigeon have been a blessing, the friendships and relationships we’ve built we’ll cherish forever. We’ll forever be in debt to our amazing Pigeon family.
‘We have the utmost respect for everyone fighting for their business in this difficult time and wish everyone the happiness we’ve experienced over our tenure at the Pigeon and beyond.
‘We leave the Pigeon with fond memories and an immense pride to have been a part of the Douglas Pub life.
‘We’d like to wish our successors at 38/40 Victoria Street all the very best for the future. We hope you can enjoy the success we did and look forward to seeing you on the right side of the bar.
‘Finally, Rob Jnr and Tamara wish to remind you that Refuge is still thriving and are looking forward to welcoming everyone soon.’
