In news that may leave thrill-seekers clutching their helmets in disbelief, popular off-road adventure firm Quad Bike Mania has been put up for sale.
The business, based at South Barrule Forest Park, has become a firm favourite for adrenaline lovers looking to tear through the island’s woodland trails, but its owner says the time has come to pass the handlebars to someone new.
Managing director Carl Underwood admitted the decision had not been easy.
He said: ‘It comes with a heavy heart that as successful as Quad Bike Mania has become it is now up for sale.
‘This decision has not come lightly but due to a number of factors, firstly being the restoration of a manageable work life balance, as running several businesses all at the same time has taken its toll.
‘With some big plans in store for both Laser-Mayhem and The Coffee Cottage, something has to give and unfortunately, as much loved as Quad Bike Mania has become, it’s time to hand the reins over to someone else.’
The company has built up a strong reputation in recent years, offering guided quad biking experiences through some of the island’s most rugged and scenic terrain.
But before you start organising a farewell ride-out, there is hope the engines will keep roaring for years to come.
Carl says the business is ideally suited to a ‘mature, confident person’, particularly someone handy with a spanner.
He added that the new owner should have the ability to maintain the fleet of quads in-house, rather than outsourcing such a ‘vital part of the business’.
So if you’ve ever fancied swapping your office chair for a quad bike seat (and don’t mind a bit of oil under the fingernails), this could be your moment.
