Fashion store Claire Christian Couture will be closing its doors later this month, after 10 years in the capital, saying ‘it’s a wrap from us I’m afraid’.

In a post on Facebook, she said that while pre-pandemic sales were ‘soaring’, they have never recovered and that together with ‘unimaginable rise in inflation all our input costs have at best doubled and at worst are six times higher’, the decision has been made to close.
However, while the closure will be sad for all those involved, Mrs Christian has chosen to reflect on the ‘incredible 10 years we have had’.
She said: ‘We would like to thank all our wonderful customers for their loyal support. Whether you were a bespoke client who put their trust in us for that special occasion or just in to buy a pair of jeans we hope we provided you a unique offering on the island and made you feel special at the same time. Meeting everyone of you was special, some of you have become great friends and we couldn’t have asked for more.
‘We also want to say a huge thank you to all the employees, student placements, volunteers, models, photographers, artists, makeup artists, stylists, hair stylists, celebrities, and other businesses who have collaborated with us too over the years. The business exceeded way beyond our little island aspirations because of YOU.’
The store will start its’ closing down sale today, Wednesday. With the last day of trading on Saturday April 22. Everything must go, including fixtures, fitting, furniture etc so do pop down to grab a bargain.
Mrs Christian added: ‘Finally, it is a reality that many small businesses on the island will be struggling in these difficult times, it breaks our hearts. Times are difficult for everyone, but if you are thinking of purchasing a gift for someone or just fancy treating yourself please pop in to your local small businesses to give them a chance.’
