The Cat’s Out The Bag – Pub Gets New Look
After weeks of mystery, muttering, and mild panic over where to grab a pint, The Cat with No Tail will reopen its doors at midday today – and it’s had a bit of a glow-up.
The Douglas favourite has been spruced up with a fresh new look, which Okell’s Inns say features calming green tones and natural textures.
The bar side never shut (because priorities), but the main dining area has been revamped to create the perfect spot for family meals, date nights, or just working your way through the menu.
Speaking of food, the classics are still there, but the team has also thrown in some new dishes to keep things interesting. And if you like a good deal (who doesn’t?), there are fresh weekday offers – kids eat free on Mondays and Tuesdays (between 5–6pm), over-60s get 20% off lunch on Wednesdays, and Thursdays to Saturdays feature a ‘Sip and Share’ deal – a sharing board for two with a bottle of wine. Sundays? It’s steak frites and wine night, obviously.
To get the next generation of pub-goers involved, a children’s colouring competition was held to design the back of the new kids’ menu.
Eight-year-old Emilie absolutely smashed it, and her masterpiece now has pride of place in the pub.

Pub managers Jenny and Brendan can’t wait to welcome everyone back. ‘It still feels like your local – just a little fresher,’ Jenny said.
‘We’ve worked hard to keep the atmosphere people love while giving it a bit of a lift.’
So, if you fancy a nosy, a bite to eat, or just a well-earned pint, The Cat with No Tail is back in business.
