Breakwater Kiosk Hopes to Reopen on Friday

Plumbers and drainage specialists were on site at Peel Breakwater Kiosk today (Tuesday) as work continued on a fix expected to allow the business to reopen on Friday.

In an update shared with customers, the popular seafront spot said its plumbing was being rerouted in a bid to resolve the drainage issue that forced it to close earlier this week.

On Friday overnight, into Saturday, high tide and strong winds caused flooding, meaning the business had to stay shut.

The kiosk remained Monday due to problems at the back of the breakwater and said it had been liaising with Harbours and the government to ensure the issue is properly addressed.

Staff thanked customers for their offers of help and kind words, saying the support had helped keep spirits up during the disruption.

They added they were looking forward to welcoming customers back this weekend, with a range of homemade, warming winter specials planned for the menu.
