The coxswain’s job is to lead the lifeboat crew at sea and ashore.
Port St Mary lifeboat station has congratulated its newest coxswain, Gareth Watt.
Put simply, the coxswain’s job is to lead the lifeboat crew at sea and ashore.
The station said that his assessment took place in the ‘dark and wavy waters between Port St Mary and the Sound’ where Gareth was tested in a number of high pressure scenarios provided by the assessor.
He came through with flying (sailing?) colours and is the station’s newest coxswain.
The station said: ‘We really are a proud bunch!’
