Behave On The Bus

Bus Vannin has sent out a polite-but-definitely-not-messing-about reminder to the public this week: stop being an idiot on the bus.

In a message titled ‘Help us help keep you safe,’ the island’s bus service reminded passengers that their drivers are, in fact, humans doing their best to transport everyone from A to B without drama, and not, as some commuters apparently believe, contestants on an endurance show.

‘They are here to get you and everyone else on your bus to your destination safely’, Bus Vannin said, adding that there is zero tolerance for abusive behaviour.

Translation: If you kick off, you’re likely to end up explaining yourself to a magistrate rather than your mates on Snapchat.

The reminder also asks people to respect fellow passengers.

Poor behaviour, the statement warns, can lead to delays or even cancellations, meaning Karen’s 8:10 to Douglas could be late because someone decided to reenact a WWE storyline in the aisle.

While Bus Vannin didn’t say prompted the announcement, regular users will know that buses occasionally become moving theatres of questionable decision-making.

So in summary: sit down and let the drivers do their job.

Because nobody wants the next Gef headline to be: ‘8A Cancelled Due to Absolute Muppet’.
