Dance Academy Takes Manx Magic to Disney

Gena’s Dance Academy has returned from a highly successful trip to the IFPDA Dance Competition.

The competition was held at Disneyland Paris, which makes Gef just a slightly bit jealous.

The Peel based academy shone in France and has come home with a haul of top three finishes in all categories they entered including a first in ballet.

After competing in the event for five years, this is a first for the Academy to enter in five categories and place in every one entered. The entire team was also chosen to lead the Disney parade through the park!

Jon Quayle, from Greenlight International which sponsored the group’s travel tops, said: ‘GDA was once again putting the Isle of Man on the world’s dance map at an event that hosts schools from all over the world, this year schools from America, Majorca and Cyprus to name a few.

‘A special thanks for should go to the teachers Gena Walker, Lucy Matthews and Hannah Smith for taking the team through 6 months training and rehearsals and accompanying them to Paris with some long suffering parents.’

And yes, we have checked, they did still find time to go on the rides!
