DoI Seeks Members for Bus Accessibility Steering Group

The DoI is looking for two people to join its new Bus Vannin Accessibility Steering Group.

Originally focussing initially on mobility scooters, the group will also be considering a wider range of accessibility issues.

The two people would be needed for six meetings year, with each meeting planned to take one-and-a-half hours. There will be no payment for Membership of the Steering Group, and attendance at meetings.

Originally created in June 2021, the group decided in August it should be expanded to include members with a disability.

The purpose of the group is to ‘inform the adoption by Bus Vannin of the CPT Voluntary Code of Best Practice for the use and acceptance of Mobility Scooters on low floor buses and develop other aspects of accessibility in relation to Bus Vannin services’.

The Steering Group will make recommendations to the Minister for Infrastructure regarding the adoption of the CPT Voluntary Code of Best Practice for the use and acceptance of Mobility Scooters on low floor buses and the strategic direction for accessibility to Bus Vannin services.

However this will not include the heritage railways.
