Eggs, Cake and Pork Lead Inflation Rise
The March figures have been published today by the Cabinet Office.
A 0.1% increase in inflation has been driven by increases in food and non-alcoholic drinks, with the eggs experiencing the biggest increase over the last 12 months.

The category ‘Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels’ exhibits the second biggest increase, having risen 13.9% compared with 12 months ago. However, this represents a drop of 3.3% compared with the previous month.
The third biggest contributor to the rate of inflation was ‘Restaurants and Hotels’, which show a rise of 11.9% ‘Catering’ has seen the biggest increase in this category (13.9%).
Some good news though, indigestion treatments are down 6.2%, making it an easier pill to swallow for all of us.
