Ffinlo Praised for Calmness When Dialling 999

A proper hero who rang 999 when his mum was injured at home has been praised for his calmness under pressure.
Ffinlo Bowman also looked after his little sister until help arrived.
With his mum injured, Ffinlo rang 999 and remained calmed, answering all the questions asked of him and ensuring his mum got the help he needed.
For this, he was presented with the first ever Emergency Services Joint Control Room certificate and got a tour of the ESJCR to see how staff handle calls like his.
Jo, the Operator taking the call said: “We get used to callers who may panic on what could well be the very worst day of their life – it was refreshing to hear that one of our younger callers was actually one of the most efficient callers I have ever had the pleasure of taking a call from.’
Ffinlo also got to meet Mark from the Isle Of Man Ambulance Service who was one of the medics who attended on the day.
