Gef’s 30 Under 30 Returns for 2024

The end of February is nigh. The days are very, very gradually getting lighter. That’s not the sun though. It’s Gef’s 30 Under 30 spotlight. Which, I’m happy to report, is now ready for a bunch of impressive people to bask under. It’s that time of the year again where we shine the aforementioned spotlight on the island’s most exciting up-and-comers and their awesome achievements. Welcome back to Gef’s 30 Under 30!

As of today, nominations are now officially open.

‘THANK GOODNESS’, I hear you exclaim with joyous relief as you zip on over to 30under30.im to nominate someone who’s been inspiring you for the last year. Gef’s 30 Under 30, if you’re new here, is a feel-good campaign recognising and celebrating thirty stand-out future leaders from the Isle of Man. It also includes a big, swanky ‘get your gladrags on’ winners’ party in June.

Or, in the words of Media Isle of Man’s Managing Director Sam Jones: ‘This is an exciting opportunity to shout about an emerging generation of our island’s outstanding young people. The campaign will be a celebration of 30 winners driving the success of our island.

‘The 30 Under 30 campaign unfolds between now and Summer and is dedicated to providing 30 outstanding young individuals and partnering organisations with an energetic platform to showcase their finest achievements and talents.’

You can nominate people in one or more of ten categories:

• Sustainability
• Innovation
• Collaboration
• Entrepreneurship
• Community Impact
• Trailblazers
• Leadership
• Achievement
• Creativity
• Disruptors

Rules for nomination: There are no rules. No, I’m just kidding, OF COURSE there are rules, this isn’t Peel. Nominees must be under 30 years old on 20 June this year and should either live on or have a strong connection with the island. (An emotional connection doesn’t count, stop asking if it counts). If you’re a previous 30 Under 30 winner you can be nominated again, however you’ll only be able to win in a different category to the one you previously won.

Who can nominate people? Good question, reader. Nominations can be made by businesses, individuals, colleagues, friends, or family. You can also nominate yourself if you have impressed yourself with all your hard work. #yougoglencoco

Nominations close on 3 May. 

So, cancel whatever you need to – weddings, christenings, work, birthday parties you can’t be bothered turning up at – to make sure you get your person nominated before then. Or forever live a life of regret. Now, go forth and spread the word, get nominating, and allow your sallow, winter-ridden skin to seep up some of the excess rays from Gef’s 30 Under 30 spotlight.
