Bottled Brilliance

Let’s start on a positive with a MASSIVE congratulations to award winning Bottle Monkey. The business has won best independent craft beer retailer in a single venue in the UK. Like them, we’re all just going to have to agree not to tell organisers that the island isn’t in the UK 🤫.

Pizza Baby!

A big congrats also goes to Tom and Kylie on the birth of Máni Gray William Rowe.

In a post, Secret Pizza Co said: ‘Right now we’re not sure what’s more difficult; looking after a newborn, or hosting 100 pizza pals drinking cocktails out of buckets, dancing on tables… But our reality from this weekend is that we’re going to have to juggle both because we are officially back baby’

It’s All Going Up

For anyone who hasn’t seen this yet today, electricity and gas prices will be going up from April 1. Manx Utilities has announced that electricity will go up by 30%, but that this will be spread over two increases in April and July. Meanwhile CURA has announced that it will allow Manx Gas to increase tariffs from April 1, but, despite this being just over two weeks away, they have not yet announced what that increase will be.

P&O

The big UK story of the day comes from the docks of England as ferry operator P&O announced it was making hundreds of staff redundant after making losses of around £100m last year.

Reports in the UK say the company has dismissed up to 800 seagoing staff, some of whom are now refusing to the leave their ships as they fight for their jobs.

Union RMT said crew members were being replaced with cheaper overseas workers while P&O has said its services would not operate for the ‘next few days’, with passengers told to use other companies. Private security officers have been sent onto one ship docked at Larne Harbour in Northern Ireland to remove staff on board, according to the RMT.
