Northern Lights Put On a Show
Photos: Craig Dalton
Islanders were treated to an absolutely massive aurora overnight, with the skies lighting up in shades of green, pink and purple for several hours.
Stunning photos shared online in the early hours suggest that this one wasn’t just a ‘camera job’, it was properly visible to the naked eye.
Those who managed to stay awake were rewarded with spectacular sight, including Craig Dalton, who made the trip up the Mountain to get a good view.
He said: ‘It was a little nippy on the mountain road at 3:30am this morning, but well worth it!’
Local aurora expert Dave Corkish was, as always, on the ball, giving folk the heads-up that the Aurora Borealis, yes, the magical Northern Lights, were due to make an appearance. And wow, did they deliver.
If you missed it, don’t panic, the photos are doing the rounds on Facebook and they’re stunning.
But if you did see it for yourself, and took any nice shots, please send them over: hello@gef.im.
