Sea Terminal Getting Much Needed TLC

If you’ve ever arrived in Douglas by ferry and thought, ‘Ah yes, I’ve made it to a 1970s Soviet customs office’, then great news! The Sea Terminal is finally getting a bit of a spruce-up.

Yes, dear reader, the scaffolding is up, and the painters are out in force, giving our beloved but slightly bedraggled gateway to the Isle of Man a much-needed lick of paint.

It’s been a long time coming, and it seems someone has finally taken Charles Guard’s rants on YouTube to heart.

For years, the Sea Terminal has been the topic of grumbling Manxies.

Tourists step off the boat and are greeted by a building that looks like it’s been patiently waiting for a renovation since before the Soviet Union collapsed.

While the inside offers all the charm of a dull waiting room, the outside has been silently weeping for a facelift.

This latest round of maintenance marks the start of a small-scale renovation project.

And while we’re not expecting a transformation worthy of an episode of Grand Designs, a bit of paint and some general tidying up will do wonders.

First impressions count, after all.

Visitors should step off the Manxman and think ‘What a lovely little island’—not ‘Did we dock in a war zone?’

More importantly, though, this isn’t just about impressing the tourists. Manxies deserve to feel proud of their home.

A well-maintained Sea Terminal means one less thing to moan about, and let’s be honest—this island’s list of things to moan about is already long enough.

Now, if someone could just do something about the horse tram tracks…
