Town’s Toilets Vandalised Again

Public toilets in Castletown have been damaged again, with a member of the local tennis club having to intervene.

Last week someone attempted to kick the door off the women’s cubicles which saw the toilets closed for a period.

As well as attempts to start fires the local authority said it ‘frequently finds that attempts are made to block drains’.

It added: ‘A member of the Tennis Club had to lock the courts and toilets this afternoon after finding that all the consumables have been used for alternative purposes.

‘It should not be down to public-spirited members of the public to intervene in such matters and while our team does a great job in the working week, we currently have very limited staffing resources available out of hours to check for antisocial behaviour and ensure that wider facilities are in good condition.’

The town’s commissioners say they hope to be able to open the toilets outside of hours again soon and that it is currently looking to employ someone to help with ensuring the toilets can be open.
