Reports in the UK say that island residents Doug Barrowman and Michelle Mone have had assets totalling about £75m frozen by a court order.

Mone and Barrowman are said to have agreed to the court order after an application by the Crown Prosecution Service under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

The Financial Times reported that the frozen assets include a six-bedroom London townhouse, their estate on the Isle of Man, and 15 accounts with Coutts, C Hoare & Co and Goldman Sachs International.

It blocks them from selling some of the assets and places restrictions on others.

A spokesperson told the FT that the he court order was ‘a result of a consensual process during which negotiations took place with the CPS’.

They added: ‘It allows the wider businesses and assets of the Barrowman family to operate normally and free from any restrictions or uncertainties. Doug and Michelle did not contest the application and were happy to offer up these assets, which means they can begin the task of proving their innocence more quickly.’

The couple have always denied any criminal wrongdoing throughout the investigation in PPE procurement during the Covid-19 pandemic.

They have also accused the UK government of using them as a scapegoat and using the NCA as a threat to reach a settlement agreement over PPE Medpro.
