Lorry, Lessons and Lots of Laughs

Some very excited reception pupils at Ashley Hill Primary School got a front-row seat to the world of waste this week.

Onchan District Commissioners’ Refuse & Recycling Team visited the school to show the children how the bin wagon works and explain exactly what happens to the rubbish once it leaves their bins.

Pupils even got a peek inside the cab of the wagon, perfect for future bin lorry drivers in the making.

The team also talked about sorting and recycling, helping the youngsters understand how the right bins can make a big difference for the environment.

A spokesperson for the commissioners said: ‘A huge thank you to Ashley Hill School for having us, we might have spotted a few potential future refuse and recycling teammates in the making!’
