School Masterplan Coming Soon
The long overdue plans for a replacement school have yet to see the light of day
Education Minister Julie Edge says the DESC will be in a position to release its masterplan for Castle Rushen High School ‘within the coming weeks’.
The long overdue plans for a replacement school have yet to see the light of day despite at least £90,000 of taxpayer cash being spent on plans and promises made by a previous minister.
Ms Edge was asked by Speaker Juan Watterson about whether, and if so when, she intends to engage with the public over the master plan for the Castle Rushen High School site.
In her written reply, the Minister said that the DESC is ‘continues to make progress with the plans for the new Castle Rushen High School site’.
She added: ‘In order to progress to the design stage, the department is in the process of gaining the necessary approvals following submission of a business case to the Strategic Asset and Capital Investment Committee. At such a time when all the necessary approvals have been received then the department will be in the position to consider publication of relevant plans, if this is appropriate.
‘In terms of the 2023 Masterplan report, the department will be in a position to release this within the coming weeks.’
