The Isle of Man Graduate Fair: the sponsor’s view

Chris Brown, Operations Director at Astrea Bioseparations, the event’s sponsor. ‘We make products that purify drugs, so they offer fewer side effects and have the power to benefit people’s lives. ‘We’re sponsoring the graduate fair for a number of reasons’.

‘Firstly, it’s to get our name “out there” as not many people really know who we are. Secondly, we believe it’s the right thing to do to support local events and government initiatives. And thirdly, we need graduates; to recruit more people with a background or interest in science and we feel the graduate fair is the best means to do this.

‘We see the graduate fair as an opportunity to meet and engage with people. There is some but not a lot of science here in the Isle of Man. There are other companies like us that are part of the biomed sector, but it’s not a well-known sector. For us, the graduate fair is a way to “fly the flag” for biomed, to meet people with science backgrounds and inform them about the career opportunities available in biomed in the Isle of Man.’
