World Book Day is an annual celebration of books, reading, and storytelling, that is observed in over 100 countries worldwide.
The aim is to encourage children and people of all ages to develop a love of reading.
World Book Day is globally recognised on April 23 after it received official designation by UNESCO in 1995.
In the UK, Ireland and the British Isles however, the day is traditionally celebrated on the first Thursday in March.
Schools across the island take part in the event each year, with children dressing up as a chosen character out of one of their favourite books.
Peel Clothworkers this year are doing a vocabulary parade, where the children can choose to dress up as a word of their choosing – or alternatively pick a character.
Media Isle of Man wanted to see all the different characters turning up to school.
Ranging from Simba the Lion, Cat in the Hat and the famous Gruffalo, the list was endless.
