Celebrating 390 Years of Service
With a combined 391 years’ worth of experience, the men were celebrated at Government House.
Fourteen firefighters have been recognised for their decades of service to their communities and the island.

Juan Callister based at Kirk Michael Station, Martin Corlett, based at Headquarters, Neil Parsons based at Laxey Station. Mark Quayle based at Laxey Station and Mark Whitely formerly based at Rushen Station were all presented with medals by Sir John Lorimer in recognition of their 20 Year Long Service and Good Conduct.
Sir John also presented Chris Mayne based at Kirk Michael Station, Mark Caley based at Headquarters, Dave Maddrell based at Rushen Station, David Craine based at Douglas Station, Richard Watson based at Ramsey Station, Carl Kinvig based at Headquarters, Pheric Curphey based at Kirk Michael, John Murtagh based at Headquarters and Simon Callow based at Ramsey Station, with clasps celebrating their 30 years’ of service.
Chief Fire Officer Mark Christian spoke to praise all of the island’s firefighters and pointed out that without the kind of dedication they have, stations like Kirk Michael and Ramsey wouldn’t be able to provide around the clock services to their communities.
A statement said: ‘It was a wonderful evening to recognise their dedication and commitment to duty and a chance for the Fire & Rescue Service to say thank you to an amazing group of individuals. In total, the 14 recipients have provided over 391 years of service to the community of the Isle of Man which is an outstanding achievement.’
