Fire Service Gets New Gadgets
‘As technology and lifestyles change, we have to adapt to deal with possible incidents that may occur.’
The Fire Service has invested in some new equipment including a blanket for use in electric vehicle fires.
The fire service said: ‘As technology and lifestyles change, we have to adapt to deal with possible incidents that may occur.’
Some of the latest additions include:
PVSTOP: An environmentally friendly, state of the art, water-based polymer coating extinguisher, that is sprayed onto solar panels like a “liquid tarpaulin”, blocking the light and “switching off” the solar panel system in seconds.
Bridgehill Fire Blanket Pro X: to be deployed at fires involving cars including electric cars, underground car parks or in areas of poor water supplies. Isolates and contains fire and heat, thereby preventing fire spread to adjacent vehicles/buildings.
Battery powered cutting and spreading equipment: Making them more versatile and quicker to get to work.
