Parents Told to Behave Themselves on School Grounds

Police have issued a reminder to parents to keep their behaviour in check while on school premises after reports of some adults acting inappropriately.

Yes, really.

The Eastern Neighbourhood Policing Team said information has been shared with officers about parents of children attending educational premises behaving in a way that ‘is not suitable for that or indeed any other public setting’.

In a message shared online, officers urged anyone with concerns about their child to follow the correct channels rather than confronting situations in a disruptive way.

They said: ‘If you have an issue that requires attention regarding your child please follow the appropriate channels in order to discuss the matter.’

Police also reminded the public that behaviour on school grounds is covered by legislation under the Education Act 2001.

The law states that any person present on school premises who behaves in a violent, quarrelsome, indecent or disorderly manner, or uses profane, obscene, indecent or threatening language, commits an offence.

Anyone found guilty can face a fine of up to £1,000.
