Police Launch UK Recruitment Drive

With TT underway, the island’s Constabulary is into recruiting mode.

The Police are inviting applications from substantive serving  officers from Home Office Forces ranging from constables, detectives along with supervision ranks to come and join our community.

Promoting opportunities for work satisfaction that is both challenging and rewarding, but a great work life balance, the Constabulary is keen to push the island as an ideal place for officers.

It said: ‘The surrounding culture, history, demographic, community spirit, lifestyle and recreational opportunities together, make the Isle of Man one of the best locations in the British Isles to both live and work as a police officer. This sentiment is echoed by a number of previous transferees that have moved to the island.’

Chief Inspector Everitt: ‘After many years in policing, and the constant juggle in getting the balance right with work and life, since moving to the Isle of Man as an officer, I can safely say I have. The pressures of work remain, they are just different, but it’s the quality of life and the balance that has improved dramatically.

‘The instant accessibility to the sea, coastal walks, the mountains, to superb roads for cycling, motorbikes or cars and the tranquillity of the Island cannot be underestimated. The infrastructure with buses, trams and steam trains is not only idyllic, but punctual and a pleasurable experience, so the fast pace dissipates away. People tend to have time, so it truly feels the community are at the heart of both what we do at work and daily life, it’s just great.’

Among the recent new recruits to the island is Chief Constable Russ Foster.
