Police Warn of Buy & Sell Scammers
A number of residents report being scammed from social media pages.
The police are investigating after receiving information that people are being scammed after placing items for sale on Manx Buy and Sell sites.
They say people have made arrangements to sell items, goods have been exchanged and bank details given. No payments have been received from the person for any items.
Officers said: ‘The common theme amongst these incidents is that a female, aged about 20 years has turned up at given locations and the victims have given similar descriptions of this female. A similar car has also been mentioned but we don’t have the registration.
‘As such we think it’s the same person who has collected the goods and not made payment. There may be a reasonable explanation for the above and as such we would also really like to hear from the person involved.’
