Studio Theatre Celebrates Two Decades
The theatre opened on February 15 2004, back when David Cretney was Minister for Fun and Steve Road was Education Minister.

Ballakermeen’s Studio Theatre has celebrated 20 years of staging local and travelling theatre groups and musicians.
The theatre opened on February 15 2004, way back when David Cretney was Minister for Fun and Steve Road was Education Minister.
Since it was opened, the threat has seen some amazing performances from local and school groups, as well showing live screenings from the National Theatre.
During that time Ballakermeen’s own Performing Arts and Music Department has produced memorable productions of ‘Oliver!’, ‘The Lion King’, ‘A Chorus Line’ and ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ since the first show ‘Souled Out’ in 2004.
In a series of posts, the theatre said: ‘To date we estimate to have screened over 225 captivating productions from world-renowned companies including the National Theatre, Royal Opera House, Royal Shakespeare Company, as well as various West End musicals, and live concerts from across the globe. ‘
The theatre also thanked everyone who has supported it over the years, especially the Isle of Man Arts Council and The Manx Lottery Trust.
It said: ‘Without them, the theatre we know today would not be able to function.’
