Popular island band ‘The Ballaghs’ is set to perform its last ever gig in Peel this weekend.

The Ballaghs were formed back in 2007, when guitarist and singer Mike Wade and bass player Lee Quaggin decided to put together a folk punk group.

Some of the band’s biggest achievements include supporting the Lightning Seeds and being the first Manx band to play at Glastonbury in 2010, as well as releasing their debut album ’Another Broken String’ with ten original tracks back in 2021.

The Ballaghs consists of the members Lee Quaggin, Brian Duffy, Ian Allen and Katie Lawrence.

A spokesperson from the band commented: ‘Sad Ballaghs news! We are going to play our last ever gig at the Creek in Peel on Saturday, February 1.

‘After many years together, and with one particular Ballaghs member set to quit the island, we’ve decided to stop flogging this horse, knock it on the head and go out with a bang.

‘What better way than a loud blast at the Creek with the Martin Family band and Sam Martin along for the ride?

‘We hope to see as many people there as possible. Just go to make sure we’re well and truly finished!’
