Flying the Nest
Manx Birdlife has announced that Neil Morris is stepping down as MD of the charity, after seven years in the role. As such, MBL says it is seeking a highly motivated manager with a professional background in ecology, a track record in nature conservation and with an expertise in ornithology, to run the organisation’s day-to-day operations.
Bob Jeavons, chair ofMBL said: ‘Neil has done an outstanding job over the past seven years and I’m delighted he’ll be continuing his involvement as a Director and Trustee. We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate nature conservationist to join the team and to further develop Manx BirdLife’s role in the conservation of our island’s bird life.’

The Financial Services Authority is inviting applications for new board members. The role provides an opportunity to work with the CEO, Bettina Roth, and the executive to set the strategic direction of the island’s risk-based financial services regulator and ensure it remains well positioned to support a dynamic industry.

Arts Aid
Arts Aid, the charity that offers financial assistance to Manx students seeking to further their education and development in the arts, is pleased to announce the appointment of Pippa Salter as a trustee and director.
Pippa said: ‘I am absolutely delighted to be joining the Board of Arts Aid. Most of my professional life has been dedicated to training and supporting young people through their education and careers in dance. The level of talent we have on the Island always astonishes me and I feel strongly that it is our responsibility as a community to ensure their talents are supported and guided by having access to further professional training off Island which allows them to fulfil their potential.’
Frank’s Gone
Struggling Premier League side Everton have sacked manager Frank Lampard, with the side 19th in the league. Former England midfielder Lampard replaced Rafa Benitez in January 2022 with the team 16th in the table and helped Everton avoid relegation last season.
Everton is currently the top division’s second longest serving club, having not been relegated since promotion to the old first division in 1954, they have also been Premier League ever presents alongside Arsenal, Man Utd, Spurs, Chelsea and Merseyside rivals Liverpool.
Guernsey
A huge crowd gathered on Guernsey this weekend to protest against the introduction of a 5% Goods and Services Tax.
There was a large turn-out for the first of two planned anti-GST events this week, with an estimated 2,000 islanders attending a rally in St Peter Port. Handmade signs soared over the large crowd, while red ribbons were shared around – making the most of the thousands of items of promotional materials purchased by anti-GST campaigners. A large flag lead the procession from North Beach, around the Prince Albert statue, and up to Market Square.
