AM Rolling Update

With snow forecast to continue falling throughout today, residents are strongly encouraged not to travel unless it is absolutely necessary while road conditions remain dangerous.

Tynwald will not sit today
There are lots of road closures etc so far today, so we’re going to keep updating this as we go along so all that info is in one place.
The first thing is that the schools and UCM will NOT open today, stay at home.
King Bills, the Buchan etc, all closed
Culture Vannin has cancelled all lessons and in-person meetings today
Hopes & Dreams school based nurseries (Ashley Hill, Ballasalla and Rushen) and tennis road preschool are closed
Manx Care
Manx Care sites are currently experiencing critical staffing pressures due to travel difficulties and the ongoing forecast. They are expecting further staff to arrive across our sites however they are significantly delayed.
As a result, any outpatient appointments, endoscopy appointments and vaccine appointments planned for today will be cancelled – please do not attend if this affects you.
They are asking patients who are booked for elective procedures to contact their admission ward.
Patients scheduled for oncology treatment should contact the Oncology Unit as soon as possible. All community antenatal and postnatal clinics are being rescheduled and a member of staff will contact those affected to rearrange. This will affect Palatine Group Practice antenatal clinic, Finch Hill Practice antenatal clinic, Hailwood Practice antenatal clinic, and Central Community Health Centre postanatal hub clinic.
Aqua natal is also cancelled for today. If any pregnant woman has any concerns or needs advice, they should not hesitate to contact the maternity unit on 650030 where the midwives will be happy to help.
Please also note that Ambulance are operating at REAP 4 which is the highest level of pressure due to issues across the road network, therefore response to 999 calls will be significantly impacted.
The Manx Emergency Doctors Service (MEDS) is for emergencies – for anything routine, please contact your own GP practice at the next opportunity.
Roads
Richmond Hill is now open and passable with care
Baldrine and Laxey now passable with extreme care
Manx Utilties is re currently making repairs to a water burst on Mount Gawne Road. They are having to use Stop /Go signs, so that we can try and keep the traffic moving, whilst we make the repairs, but please avoid the area if possible

Shops
The NSC is to close from 12pm, all indoor and outdoor activities are cancelled
Foxdale, Laxey, Ballaugh, Angab Coar and Port Erin post offices are closed. Douglas Post Office in Strand Street will remain open and MiCard payments can be claimed there.
Gillian Sheards opticians is open today. If you need to cancel appointments, ring 676260
The Southern Swimming Pool says it is open today
Northern pool is closed
Western pool is closed
All EVF stores are open, with the exception of the Brown Bobby
EVF: ‘If you are expecting a delivery of home heating oil today pleased be advised that due to closed roads and impassable roads, some deliveries may be delayed.’
The Manx Museum and House of Manannan are closed today
Chamber of Commerce – ‘Hello all, due to current weather conditions our workshop, Top tips for building your network and social selling on Linkedin with Kirsty Lawrence, Mann Social has been postponed. We will notify all attendees when we arrange a new date.’

Services
HBN Library in Douglas has opened
Port St Mary Commissioners say that bins that would normally be collected today won’t be, they’ll update when this will be when they know more
Onchan Commissioners – Due to todays weather conditions for the safety of the public and our staff, all refuse collections have been postponed for today
Douglas’ bin collections for today have been suspended; any bins that have not been collected today will be done tomorrow as long as the weather and road conditions allow.
Kerbside Recycling – currently collecting, but note that this service may be suspended if conditions get worse.
There are some delays at the airport, but mostly everything is showing as on time
The east, west and northern civic amenity sites are all closed
