School Celebrates Eco Status
Victoria Road School in Castletown held a Green Day last week, to celebrate it becoming an Eco School
The school celebrated by holding school wide environmental activities.
The school’s Eco Council have worked hard to begin transforming the school, becoming more environmentally friendly, including weekly litter picking sessions that all the kids can take part in.
Other changes have seen composting bins being used by the school kitchen and moving parent correspondence to online.
The school is also currently developing its outdoor spaces, including the start of vegetable patches in its nature garden and a huge development on the school field including a micro forest.
Year 6 teacher (and Head of PE) Sam Palmer told Gef that special thanks have to go to teachers Aislin Clark and Sheena Dunbar who have taken the lead on the pupil’s Eco Council and the wider Eco School project.
