Ravens Name Squad for Double Header
The Ravens will travel first to Ikley to play Colne at 7.45pm before lining up against Barnoldswick Town on Saturday afternoon.
Paul Jones has named 21 players in his travelling squad for this weekend’s doubleheader with the Ravens playing two games in under 24 hours.
The Ravens will travel first to Ikley to play Colne at 7.45pm before lining up against Barnoldswick Town on Saturday afternoon.
Jones has picked a mixture of youth and experience for the weekend that will test the depth of the squad to its max.
Colne, who recently made national news for their weather-impacted schedule, are up first for the Ravens and go into the game in 13th place, two behind Jones’ side, but with two games in hand.
They have a 50/50 record in their last six, losing three, but then winning their last three. That game will be broadcast at the Pinewood in Pulrose.
As for Barnoldswick, their recent poor form has seen them fall to 17th in the league, losing four of their last six, though their own win in that period came from a surprise win away at Bury.
Coincidentally, the last game for both these sides was against each other, with Colne winning 5-2 at Barlick.
Ravens
Paul Jones’ side go into this weekend in good form, with only table-topping Wythenshawe Town having a set of results in their last six.
Those five wins in six games include Tuesday’s 1-0 win over Chadderton which saw Dan Hattersley score after just 22 seconds.
Earlier this week, Jones said fans should keep believing that they can crash the promotion party, which while mathematically possible would be the story of the season coming from 13 points outside the play-offs with six games to play.
With the Barlick game having originally supposed to be the Ravens’ last away game, there is a sizeable away crowd expected at both games, especially Saturday, with the Conspiracy bringing two coaches to the game.
The club said: ‘We are aware that a number of fans are travelling this weekend and as always can’t thank you enough for your support. We look forward to catching up with you after the game!’
