Football, Big Screen, North Quay!

Football fever has hit Douglas harder than a misplaced penalty kick, and fans are buzzing with excitement for the UEFA European Championship.

What better way to catch the action than on a big screen, outdoors, with a pint in hand? (Or several, we don’t judge!)

Starting tonight with the Scotland v Germany match, the North Quay transforms into a football fiesta, complete with a giant screen for all your cheering, jeering, and inevitable heartbreak needs.

The festivities are stationed right outside Noa at Market Hall/Santander Work Café, giving you front-row seats to all the drama.

Thanks to the ingenious folks at Douglas City Centre Management and the Domestic Event Fund, the North Quay will be your go-to spot for all weekend games, as well as every England and Scotland match.

It’s a collaboration between local hospitality wizards and Business Isle of Man.

Picture this: The Grand House, The British, and KiKi’s, all banding together to keep your bellies full and your spirits high.

With food and drink options aplenty, you might forget you’re even there for the football.

This section of North Quay is closed to traffic for the summer, giving you ample room to spill your drink and your emotions onto the road without any pesky cars to worry about.

The North Quay Collective, a merry band of local businesses, has big plans to keep the good times rolling.

A spokesperson, clearly brimming with excitement, said: ‘We’re thrilled to kick off what we hope will be the first of many epic events on the quayside. With so many great businesses in one area, it seemed the perfect time to collaborate and bring some much-needed fun to Douglas.’

The goal? To create a communal space where Douglas residents can unite in their love for the beautiful game, fostering a sense of community and local pride.

And who knows, maybe even a new tradition of shouting at a giant screen together.

What’s stopping us demanding the Parish Walk is on the TV, or the Manx Grand Prix, or even a live stream of the Laxey Wheel turning? (Wait – is it turning at the moment?)

Just remember, under 18s are welcome but must be accompanied by a responsible adult. And no outside alcohol is allowed. But with all the great options available, who needs to BYOB?
