From Docklands to Deckchairs – Big New Park Planned by Manx Terminal

A huge new park could soon be growing just a stone’s throw from the Isle of Man ferry terminal in Liverpool.

The two-hectare green space, called Central Park, is part of the ambitious Central Docks neighbourhood – one of five areas making up the £5bn Liverpool Waters project.

It’s all being led by Peel Waters, the same Peel Group subsidiary behind Peel Ports, which owns the land the Manx terminal sits on.

The new park will sit within 2.3km of redeveloped waterfront stretching from the city centre up to Bramley-Moore Dock – home of Everton FC’s new stadium and just a quick hop from Triskelion Way.

Plans include 2,350 new homes, hundreds of new trees, and a network of public spaces – with infrastructure work on the park set to kick off in September 2025.

If all goes to plan, it should be ready for action by December 2027.

The latest tweaks to the plans swap a previously proposed skate park for a more inclusive multi-use games area (think football, basketball and more).

A Peel Waters spokesperson said more details would be shared as final designs are confirmed, but for now, the dream of a big green patch next to the ferry terminal is getting closer to becoming a reality.
