Further Charge For Death by Careless Driving Accused
The case is adjourned until May 5.
A man accused of causing the death of the Carolyn Buchan through careless driving has been further charged with an act against public justice.
David Evans, 65, of Tynwald Street, Douglas, appeared via live link the morning at Douglas Courthouse.
Mr Evans is accused of causing Mrs Buchan’s death through careless or inconsiderate driving, failing to stop after an accident and failing to report an accident.
This morning prosecutors revealed a fourth charge, acting against public justice, namely that he perverted the course of justice.
No pleas were entered today as defence advocate Deborah Myerscough sought a four-week adjournment.
There was no application for bail meaning Mr Evans will on remand at Isle of Man Prison until his next appearance before the court on May 5. A committal hearing so the case can be sent to the Court of General Gaol is due to be held on June 2.
