Great for people who love Noa’s and know what Artisan means.

The Play Barn at Ard Jerkyll will have more than 40 stalls full of festive goodies for you to spend your hard-earned cash on and you’ll be supporting local businesses in the process. You could potentially have a guinea pig the charity’s been struggling to shift thrown in as a bonus. BUT WHAT ABOUT PARKING? Calm down. I was just about to get to that. Assuming it’s going to be busy. Bit arrogant. Parking is available in the overflow car park which is via the next public entrance after the main ManxSPCA one.
Apparently this guy hates people so turn up at your own risk.

Where: Crossroads Community Space
Time: 10am-2pm
Price: £12 per ticket (must be pre-booked) – accompanying adults go free. To get tickets, contact the Grinch’s PA Maddie on fundraising@crossroadsiom.org or 673103.
The Grotto will be at Crossroad’s Community Space in Tynwald Street. Tickets include meeting the Grinch in Who-Ville, a Christmas gift, making your own Grinch Christmas decoration, biscuit decorating, Grinch pictures, and a special Grinch hot chocolate. I don’t know what makes it special but going off the look on his face in this picture, I’d be wary.
Not for people who are looking to play Pacman. It’s not that type of arcade.
When: Saturday 2 & Sunday, 3 December
Where: Villa Gaiety Arcade
Time: 10am-midday / 2-4pm
Price: £3 for all workshops – you can get tickets here.
There are 2 workshops on Saturday:
- Hunt the Wren Wreath Christmas workshop from 10am-12pm.
- “Upcycled Christmas” – a Christmas decoration workshop from recycled materials from 2-4pm.
And 2 on Sunday:
- Debra Tracey Carney from Isle Be Creative hosts a Mosaic Christmas Tree Decoration workshop from 10-12pm.
- Followed by a community silk painting with a festive theme and Christmas cards.
As previously mentioned. Don’t turn up to this thinking you’re going to get a round of Space Invaders in. You will be disappointed.. Or pleasantly surprised at the alternative offer.
Good for people called Jack, not good for beanstalks or giants.
When: Saturday, 2 Dec
Where: Peel Centenary Centre
Time: 2:30pm-5pm
This one’s pretty self explanatory. It’s a theatre production of Jack and the Beanstalk. I assume.
If none of these appeal, you can always resort to the classic drinking in a field. Just make sure to wear a coat to keep out the Jack Frost while you’re downing Jack Frost.
