Noble’s Trolley Service Rolls Back into Action

Patients at Noble’s Hospital are about to get a small but very welcome upgrade to their stay, because the shop is coming to them.

Yes, the Thie Bee Retail Shop trolley is making a comeback, meaning no more long treks (or sending your mate on a mission) just to grab a snack or a drink.

The move comes after Manx Care held its ‘Meet the Matron’ listening events earlier this year, where patients, carers and visitors were asked what would actually make their time in hospital better.

And the message was pretty clear: snacks, essentials… and a friendly face go a long way.

Manx Care said: ‘You told us that having access to refreshments, small essentials and a friendly face, especially when you may not have visitors, would make a real difference to your hospital experience.

‘We listened.’

The trolley rounds will now return across wards and outpatient areas, bringing everything from drinks and treats to everyday bits right to patients’ bedsides (or at least a lot closer than the shop).

Emma Cleator, Divisional Director of Nursing and Allied Health Professions for Unscheduled Care, said the move is about more than just convenience.

She said: ‘This initiative reflects our commitment to delivering compassionate, person-centred care on every ward, every day.

‘These small but meaningful interactions help promote comfort, dignity and connection.’

And that’s really what this is about.

Yes, it’s handy if you fancy a chocolate bar or need a quick essential, but for some patients, especially those without regular visitors, it’s also about that bit of human interaction during the day.

The relaunch is part of Manx Care’s wider promise to actually listen to feedback and make changes based on what people say.
