Rise in Missed GP Appointments

There were 976 missed GP appointments in June.

The last month saw an increase in the ‘did not attend rate’ from 3.62% in May to 4.53%. 

Manx care has released the figures from May to June having previously committed to reducing the number of appointments that are not utilised by people. 

Between April 2021 and March 2022 people failing to attend appointments is believed to have cost the island’s health service £472 872. 

The biggest increase in unattended appointments was at The Southern Surgery, from 83 to 112 (29% rise). 

The biggest decrease in missing appointment slots was in Finch Hill surgery from 123 to 71. (52% fall). 

There was a drop in over 100 appointments made with MEDS last month. 

In May, seven out of the 439 appointments made with MEDS (1.59%) were unattended. By comparison in June this rose to 12 out of the 336 appointments made (3.57%). 

Manx Care is asking people who cannot attend their appointment to cancel it so that it can be offered to someone else.
