I wouldn’t say I’m funny. I’d say I’m hilarious…That attempt at humour quite firmly cements the truth in my opening sentence. However, I do like funny things and would like more funny things to happen on the island. So, I am bringing a comedy night to the humour-starved streets of DouglasThree stand-up comedians are popping over from the adjacent Isle to give us a giggle. You may have seen them on the old telly box.Harriet Dyer is taking time out from cracking people up on BBC Radio 4, BBC3 and IPlayer to come over and tickle Manx funny bones.Joining her is writer for Mock the Week and manager of the fourth best comedy club in the UK (voted by The Guardian) Maff Brown. And Shooting Stars very own Angelos Epithemiou.Plus there will be the introduction of two local stand-ups: Joseph Johnson and compere of the night Lee Kraig.Don’t say I don’t spoil you.We are an island overflowing with a sickening amount of talent and yet there is a tumbleweed inhabited gap in the market for a regular comedy night.Everyone knows that laughter gets rid of tumbleweeds, that or a ‘pistols at dawn’ situation. Obviously one of those is the more ideal solution. But seeing as gun laws prevent it, I’m going to have to go for the comedy night option. The main aims here are to discover Manx comedians, give them a platform on which to practice their material and provide locals with nights of knee slapping chortles on a monthly basis. If you are in any way interested about being an act in the future, or have any questions about the night, then drop me a message on at Nineacrosscomedy@outlook.com.’That sounds awesome! I’d definitely dish out a few quid for that. What are the deets?’ I hear you ask. Excellent question my inquisitive reader. The answers to you seek, are below.
