How many times have you heard someone complain that there’s not much to do on our fair Isle? This is usually uttered by pessimistic, negative Nellies who inhabit a world of half empty glasses and red stoplights, with the sole purpose of knocking the go-getters off cloud nine.

But this weekend there’s an adventurous initiative happening Island-wide to get even the doomsayers excited. So buckle up, get your comfy shoes on, and give your best brunch activewear an outing that it’ll actually thank you for. Gef’s currently out shopping for a mongoose-sized life jacket ahead of Visit Isle of Man’s ‘On Your Doorstep – One Big Weekend’, which launches this coming Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th March. The event aims to promote the many high-quality and unique attractions that the Island has to offer. From sea kayaking in Peel to the more (personally) appealing wine tasting at Foraging Vintners, there’s a shedload for you to shake your stick of excitement at. There’s a whole host of Island-wide companies taking part this weekend, offering taster classes at heavily discounted prices or even free of charge (say what?!) so why not get a bunch of mates together and get all Namaste at group goat yoga, or explore our very own #blueplanet with a discover diving experience. As with any freebie or discounted event, you must book ahead to avoid disappointment. The entire event schedule is being managed by Web Ticket Manager, and you can find an itinerary of all events here. So have a browse, pick your poison, and head out for events uncharted. It’s far too easy to take the Isle of Man for granted, as is the case for anyone who’s a permanent resident in any locale. Yet the Island’s breathtaking scenery is under utilised, and this weekend is as good a time as any to get out and explore, taking a more touristic view of the Island we call home. It seems almost selfish that the Isle of Man’s beauty is a relatively unknown entity outside of our bubble, so if you fancy channeling inner Kim K influencer vibes, then this weekend is the perfect time to promote the Isle of Man to off-Island mates. Being the ultimate thrillseeker, Gef’s probs going to be busy swinging through the treetops at the Venture Centre in Maughold, but he’d love to see you face-planting your paddleboard (he’s a sod like that) so make sure you tag him in any photos you take this weekend. Go forth and create your very own #IOMstory, brethren! var bannersnack_embed = {“hash”:”bc9e1le8h”,”width”:672,”height”:280,”t”:1539344821,”userId”:38193901,”responsive”:true,”type”:”html5″};//cdn.bannersnack.com/iframe/embed.js
