But this weekend there’s an adventurous initiative happening Island-wide to get even the doomsayers excited. Gef’s currently out shopping for a mongoose-sized life jacket ahead of Visit Isle of Man’s ‘On Your Doorstep – One Big Weekend’, which launches this coming Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th March. The event aims to promote the many high-quality and unique attractions that the Island has to offer. From sea kayaking in Peel to the more (personally) appealing wine tasting at Foraging Vintners, there’s a shedload for you to shake your stick of excitement at. There’s a whole host of Island-wide companies taking part this weekend, offering taster classes at heavily discounted prices or even free of charge (say what?!) so why not get a bunch of mates together and get all Namaste at group goat yoga, or explore our very own #blueplanet with a discover diving experience.As with any freebie or discounted event, you must book ahead to avoid disappointment. It’s far too easy to take the Isle of Man for granted, as is the case for anyone who’s a permanent resident in any locale. Yet the Island’s breathtaking scenery is under utilised, and this weekend is as good a time as any to get out and explore, taking a more touristic view of the Island we call home. It seems almost selfish that the Isle of Man’s beauty is a relatively unknown entity outside of our bubble, so if you fancy channeling inner Kim K influencer vibes, then this weekend is the perfect time to promote the Isle of Man to off-Island mates.
