Marathon Coppers

The 2022 intake of police recruits are already serving the island by raising money for Isle Listen and Ukraine.

To do this, they are taking part in The Great Manx Run, collectively running 30 miles.

Having originally set themselves a target of £1,000, the student officers have already smashed that and are well on their way to hitting £1,500.

The officers said: ‘We want to give back to our local community to a charity that helps individuals through difficult periods in their lives of which we will come into contact with many times during over careers. Mental health can affect anyone & shouldn’t be overlooked, lets show our support and give back because it could be any one of us who needs their service in the future. 

‘We’ve also decided to donate half of the money raised to the refugees in Ukraine who as we all know are going through an awful time and need support from everyone around the world. Our hearts go out to them.’

As well as taking part in the running, the officers are also helping to set up the course and assisting on food stations too, all while wearing what they call ‘interesting police attire’.
