Are Passengers Pickin’ up Bad Vibrations?
Treasury Minister Dr Alex Allinson responded to a question on vibrations from Juan Watterson SHK.
Vibration analysis on the Manxman has been completed and the report should be available before Valentine’s Day.
Treasury Minister Dr Alex Allinson responded to a question on vibrations from Juan Watterson SHK.
The Speaker had asked wether the vibrations are within acceptable limits and what is being down to rectify them.
In his reply, Dr Allinson claimed that the Steam Packet issued the following statement on social media: “Some complaints have been received regarding vibration so Passengers travelling on Manxman this week may notice dockyard representatives on board. They may also see vibration monitoring equipment in some public areas of the vessel; this is part of an ongoing programme of quality assurance.”
However, neither of the company’s posts on Facebook or Twitter (X) referred to complaints being received.
Instead they both had posts which simply read: “Passengers travelling on Manxman this week may notice dockyard representatives on board. They may also see vibration monitoring equipment in some public areas of the vessel; this is part of an ongoing programme of quality assurance.”
However, Dr Allinson did say: ‘The shipyard team from Hyundai Mipo Dockyard have confirmed the vibration analysis has been completed and the report should available by February 13 2024.’
