Ex Chief Minister Joins Pro UK Board
The group strives to put forward the case for the union.
Former Chief Minister Howard Quayle has been appointed as an advisor to a pro-union foundation.
Set up by ex first minister of Northern Ireland Arlene Foster, the group strives to put forward the case for the union.
Mr Quayle, who retired form politics after leading the island through the pandemic in 2021, has joined the advisory board of the group alongside his fellow ex-chief minister of Jersey John Le Fondré.
The foundation says of itself: ‘Together UK Foundation is inclusive of all cultural and political backgrounds within the UK, with the aim to provide a unifying voice that is informed, independent and factually based.
‘Whether it is in relation to financial stability and pension security; continued support for a thriving NHS; an education service that equitably supports our young people to academic or vocational success or an environment that challenges climate change, we know that we are stronger together.’
Like the Isle of Man, Jersey is not, nor has ever been, part of the UK.
Announcing the news, Arlene Foster said: ‘We got the band back together!’
She added: ‘Look forward to putting forward that positive case for the Union. Together.’
