The Manx Lottery Trust has awarded a grant of £2,500 to Hospice Isle of Man to update the kitchen equipment, ensuring that the highest standards and quality of food are maintained for the patients, visiting family and friends, staff, and volunteers.

Melanie Kermeen from Hospice Isle of Man said: ‘After some issues with equipment we had to seek assistance in updating our kitchen facilities. We’re so grateful to Manx Lottery Trust for helping us with this in order to keep our main budgets going where they matter most, straight to terminal patients.’

Stephen Turner, Chairman of the Manx Lottery Trust, added: ‘Hospice Isle of Man is such a vital charity to our community. With so many different elements making it tick, we’re pleased to help with the refurbishment of the kitchen.’

EU

The European Commission has acknowledged the Isle of Man’s ongoing commitment to robust data protection practices by affirming the island’s “Adequacy Decision” under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The European Commission’s comprehensive review of adequacy decisions confirmed that personal data transfers from the European Union to the Isle of Man continue to benefit from adequate data protection safeguards. This recognition is pivotal for international business and collaboration, allowing the Isle of Man to serve as a trusted partner in handling personal data.

Yeah, it’s as dry as a sandal int he Sahara, but it’s important.

Chief Minister, Alf Cannan said: ‘This recognition from the EU aligns with the Isle of Man’s commitment to maintaining high standards in data protection. It means that we can continue to exchange information with EU Member States, and that will aid Manx businesses in their links with Ireland and the rest of the EU.’

A bit of weird bit of news today, but one that gave me an excuse to put John Cena in the Daily Roundup, which just seemed like a fun thing to do.

WWE Raw – pro-wrestling’s most popular weekly show – will only be available on Netflix from next year.
