Gov to Launch ‘Get Online’ Centre
It’ll be based at the Sea Terminal
The Sea Terminal will play host to a Get Online Centre as part of the gov’s Digital Strategy.
Chief Minister Alf Cannan was asked what plans his gov has to helping people who don’t currently have digital access to use online services.
He said that the gov currently recognises the divide between those who regularly use digital services and those who don’t.
He added: ‘To support what is outlined in the Digital Strategy, an updated Digital Inclusion Strategy is due to be launched early in 2023. Along with the Digital Inclusion Strategy, Government’s Get Online Centre will open within the Welcome Centre based in the Sea Terminal building in November 2022.’
One of the objective of the centre will be to increase uptake of gov’s online services, with a team from Cabinet Office providing group and one to one training sessions for gov services. However, for those who don’t fancy using the online services, the Chief has confirmed that these traditional services will continue.
